Against a perforated anthracite background, a woman is shown turning away from us. She looks back. Is she searching, looking for someone, or on the move? The artist created this work in connection with many women from North Africa who have fled their homeland and not yet arrived in the host country. The earthy red tone hints at her African background. It is a raw, abstract surface that appears simultaneously vulnerable and powerful. While the facial features are entirely omitted, leaving us to wonder where her gaze goes. The contrast between the bright white of the scarf and the intense red shades in the neck area enhances the drama and gives the figure a strong presence. By deliberately omitting further details of her coat, the artist directs attention to the invisible, to the question of identity, origin, and the emotional depth that goes beyond mere depiction.
